UTICA, N.Y.- If you drove along the Memorial Parkway in Utica Saturday morning, you may have noticed a lot of flags.

The Good News Center posted 1,000 flags on the parkway.

NewsChannel 2 Camera crews say volunteers were unraveling the flags when they were there.

Judy Hauck, the Executive Director of The Good News Center says it takes a lot of people to put up the flags.

"Every year we've been putting up 1,000 flags to honor our veterans and first responders and it's been a wonderful event that we have been partnering for the last couple of years with Sitrin's military rehabilitation program. And just wanted to give a shout out to all of our volunteers, because we couldn't do this without the people who are actually here this morning helping to unfrill (unravel) the flags we posted yesterday." says Hauck.

There will be a closing ceremony on Saturday November 9th at 3:30 pm at Parkway Center with Lieutenant Colonel Steve Russell.
