A cold front moved south through the region today with a few
thunderstorms along it. One thunderstorm moved through Utica this afternoon
around 2:00pm. It was producing extremely heavy rainfall and frequent
lightning. A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Central-Southern Oneida
The Flash Flood Warning ran from 1:49pm until 4:45pm and was radar indicated.
It included areas such as Utica, Rome, Kirkland, Westmoreland, Paris,
Deerfield, Floyd, Whitesboro, New York Mills, and Yorkville. One of these
residents, James Graeff from New Hartford, measured 1.98" on the rain gauge
at his house. You can see it in the bottom right corner of the following

This is an incredible amount of rainfall for such a narrow storm. Drone
footage in Westmoreland captured this thunderstorm as it was dumping rain
