DOLGEVILLE, N.Y. - Flood recovery continues throughout the region and many residents are still in need of assistance.
Donna Lawrence has lived in Dolgeville for about five years. Her home was destroyed by the flood.
"I'm just sad, I'm bummed, this was my home I loved it here," Lawrence said.
Lawrence says while she has appreciated the help from the state and Dolgeville Village Hall, it has been a little confusing.
"Everybody wants to help, it's great," Lawrence said. "It's just so much going through my head, then you get all of this paperwork saying 'go here, go there' and I'm losing track of it all."
Dolgeville Village Hall is one of the eight Disaster Assistance Service Centers set up by the state.
Mayor Mary Puznowski says about 30 families have gone to the village for help.
"We have a lot of cleaning supplies, we have red cross kits, we have meals ready to eat, food, blankets," Puznowski said.
Puznowski says while many houses have been deemed uninhabitable, and the winter weather is here, housing assistance doesn't seem to be a need.
"It's not a pressing need at this point because I understand that people do have places to stay," Puznowski said. "We're going to work with our county to try and get this a more permanent solution for over the winter until people can get their homes assessed and clean out. Some may go back, some may not but everybody is safe at this point and has a place to stay."
Puznowski says if anyone is in need of any assistance, including housing assistance, contact Dolgeville Village Hall and they will help you the best they can.
