OHIO, N.Y. – The West Canada Creek has pulled apart Route 8 in the town of Ohio, as the waves washed away pieces of the roadway.

Two of three bridges leading in and out of the town are also closed due to the flooding.

Resident Mark Mowers says the Harvey Road bridge is the only passable one, as creeks have flood several streets throughout the town.

“There are people, at this point, who are unable to get out from where they are,” Mowers said.

He added that the Harvey Bridge “isn’t in the greatest shape,” and has been on an inspection schedule after being yellow-flagged for its condition.

Mowers says the town will need assistance addressing damage caused by the flooding.
