NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. - New Hartford native and former Utica Comets forward Mike Zalewski will remain overseas to play his eighth full season of professional hockey, signing with Graz99ers of the Bet-At-Home Ice Hockey League in Austria.
It will be his second year playing in Austria, previously suiting up for the Vienna Capitals of the EBEL during the 2019-20 season.
The former Spartan spent last year with the Kolner Haie (Cologne Sharks) of the DEL in Germany, his second stint with the team, where he had three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 38 games.
He's also played for the Straubing Tigers of the DEL, after spending his first three full seasons as a pro in the Vancouver Canucks organization with the Comets.
As a member of the Comets, Zalewski played in 167 games where he had 24 goals and 39 assists for 63 points, his best year coming in 2015-16, where he had 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points in 58 games.
