PITTSBUGH, PA - Utica native Brianna Kiesel is returning to her collegiate alma-mater University of Pittsburgh where she will join the Panthers women's basketball team's coaching staff as an assistant.
Kiesel, a 2011 graduate of Proctor High School, has spent the last six years playing professional basketball in both the WNBA and overseas.
She shined for Pitt on the court from 2011-15 where she completed her Panthers career as the all-time leader in minutes played.
Kiesel also ranks third in program history in free throw percentage (79.5%), fifth in points (1,938), fifth in assists (433), and eighth in steals (198). She remains the only Panthers women's basketball player to amass at least 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, and 400 assists, while leading the team in scoring and assists in each of her four seasons.
"I am so honored to be joining the women's basketball coaching staff at the University of Pittsburgh," said Kiesel via Pitt Athletics. "I had such an amazing playing career here and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to make my return as an assistant coach.
"Everyone at Pitt has been my second family since the moment I stepped foot on campus for my official visit. This has been my dream job ever since graduating in 2015 and I'm ready to pass on the knowledge I've gained from the WNBA and international play to the up-and-coming student-athletes at Pitt. I can't wait to continue to bleed that Pittsburgh blue and gold."
Following her playing career at Pitt, Kiesel was selected as the 13th overall pick by the Tulsa Shock in the 2015 WNBA Draft, becoming just the second player in program history to be drafted into the premier women's professional basketball league.
Over the course of a three-year WNBA career, the former Proctor Raider played in 57 games with the Shock, Dallas Wings, and Atlanta Dream.
She's spent the last three seasons playing overseas in Poland, Sweden, Hungary and Israel, most recently playing for Uni Gyor in the Hungary A Division.
Over the course of a four-year career at Proctor, Kiesel recorded 1,548 points.
