UTICA, N.Y. -- A local author and former journalist is sharing his new book with children in Utica Tuesday.
You may recognize Dave Dellecese, he is a former anchor and reporter for WKTV.
Dellecese read his book 'The Little Lamp' to a crowd of children at the Children's Museum in Utica.
The book is about a lamp who shines bright for many years for a family. But a new lamp enters the house and "The Little Lamp" finds himself tossed to the curb, questioning his role in life.
Dellecese says he wanted to give children a message that everyone has a purpose.
“We go through all kinds of upheaval and changes in the span of our life whether it's a small child or teen, whether it's adult, whether it's a senior, and those upheavals can at times make us doubt ourselves and our purpose in this world. And I wanted to do something that reinforced to people that you matter that you have a reason for being here, and always remember that,” said Dave Dellecese.
Dellecese started drawing the lamp when he was just 8 years old and used that character to write the book.
You can find "The Little Lamp" at Barnes and Noble in New Hartford and on Amazon.com.
