FORT DRUM – A soldier stationed at Fort Drum is currently being treated for a gunshot wound in Syracuse, according to Fort Drum Public Affairs.
Fort Drum officials say around 2:30 p.m. Monday, a soldier assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) was evacuated by helicopter to Upstate Medical University with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Officials say the soldier’s injury was sustained during a mounted gunnery exercise. He’s currently in stable condition and the wound is not life-threatening.
Fort Drum officials say the incident is currently under investigation.
