UTICA, N.Y. -- Four local high school students were awarded scholarships during a ceremony at the Boilermaker Road Race headquarters.

Eva Borton of Clinton Central School, and Josh Farmer of New Hartford Central School were the 2019 recipients for Outstanding Achievement in Distance Running.

Jennalynn Roberts of Remsen Central School, and Dylan Richard of Holland Patent Central School were honored for Outstanding Commitment in Distance Running.

All four students received a $1,500 scholarship.

“To honor the best runners in the area, but also he wanted to honor the runners who were a coach’s dream. Those real, real good team players. So, somebody who might not be the best runner, but somebody who just generated tremendous support for teammates,” said Richard Hunt, the Boilermaker 15K scholarship chairman.

The Boilermaker scholarship recipients also received a free registration to this year's Boilermaker. The 42nd Boilermaker Road Race will take place on Sunday, July 14.
