One of the two men who escaped from Clinton Correctional facility in Dannemora, has been moved to a prison in Central New York.
Richard Matt and David sweat cut through steel walls back in 2015, with the help of an illicit relationship with a seamstress at the prison, Joyce Mitchell.
Matt was killed by authorities, and David Sweat, was captured and reincarcerated after the more than three-week search back in June 2015.
This is the fourth transfer for Sweat after the prison break less than four years ago. He was initially transferred to Five Points in Seneca County, was then sent to Attica Correctional Facility in Wyoming County, and then six months later moved to the Wende Correctional Facility in Erie County. He was most recently transferred to the Auburn Correctional Facility, a Cayuga County prison, on December 3, 2018.
The Department of Corrections says, based on regular reviews, which include looking at concerns like an inmate behavior, allegiances with other inmates that could become disruptive, or over-familiarity with a facility, inmates are moved.
They also say there are 5,000 inmate transfers each month.
