FRANKFORT, N.Y. (UPDATED) --- The Frankfort-Schuyler School District reached out to families today bringing news that a 11-year-old girl from Frankfort was killed in a car crash in Florida on Thursday.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Karley Guyer was a passenger in an SUV that was parked on the side of a highway in Gadsden County Florida.
As the SUV driver tried to drive back onto the interstate around 10:20 p.m., the vehicle was hit by a tractor-trailer.
There were three other children in the SUV at the time of the crash, along with the 54-year-old driver, all from Frankfort. They all suffered minor injuries. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
Counselors are available at the school starting on Monday for those who want to talk.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs.
