ORISKANY- On Saturday afternoon, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County gave away free masks and hand sanitizer at their farm and home center in Oriskany.
The items were available to farmers, and agribusinesses.
Before getting the items, people had to provide the name, location, and the number of employees at the farm.
Officials with Cornell Cooperative Extension say, making these items avilable to farmers, keeps the employees and the farmers safe.
"We have about nine u-pick operations in Oneida County. It's very important that they have access to masks and hand sanitizer to keep the public safe and keep their operation up and running so people can continue to come in and enjoy the u-pick facilities that we have," said Mary Beth McEwen, who is the Executive Director.
Farmers who were unable to pick up the items can arrange a time to do so. Just call (315) 736-3394 Ext. 100.
