Tonight's moon is not only full but also a supermoon! A supermoon is when the moon orbits slightly closer to the earth and appears slightly larger and brigher than usual.
The moon looks to rise locally around 7:30 pm and remain in the sky until 6:30 am tomorrow. The best time to watch this locally looks to be early in the evening. We do expect clouds to return to Central New York tonight, with skies becoming cloudy between 10-11 pm. This is all due to a warm front approaching the area.
This is the first supermoon of the year. Two more supermoons are expected later this year - May 26 and June 24th.
