A Fulton County man is accused of distributing child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Grant Jaquith of the Northern District of New York.
Charles Guyer, 59, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of distributing child pornography. According to the news release, Guyer allegedly used a file-sharing software to distribute child porn over the internet in March and April of this year.
A judge ordered that Guyer be detained pending further court proceedings.
If Guyer is ultimately convicted on the charge, he faces at least 15 years in prison and a maximum of 40 years in prison. He also faces a maximum fine of $250,000, and five years to life of post-release supervision.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, which was launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice.
