YORKVILLE, N.Y. -- A fire that initially started within a garage Thursday morning in Yorkville quickly spread to the attached house, destroying both.
Fire crews were called to 63 Campbell Ave. in Yorkville shortly after 3 a.m.
According to fire officials on scene, a neighbor called 911 to report the fire. An Oneida County Sheriff's deputy arrived shortly after to help the occupants still inside get outside safely.
Fire officials say due to the roof of the home slowly caving in, paired with the already extensive damage to the house, it will have to be demolished.
At least seven fire departments responded to the scene, including New York Mills, Yorkville, Whitesboro, New Hartford, Maynard, Deerfield and Willowvale.
Investigators are still working to determine a cause of the fire, as well as the exact number of people who occupied the home.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details are released.
