Rochester, MN - The Herkimer College softball team is now just one win away from securing a national title after defeating top-seeded Rock Valley 9-6, Friday.
After giving up a 3-1 lead and falling down 4-3, the Generals rallied back in order to remain unbeaten in the double-elimination tournament.
Vani Patel lead the way, going 3-for-4 with four RBI's, including a solo home run. Jennah Hogan (3-for-4) and Brooke Snyder (0-for-4, RBI) drove in the other runs for Herkimer.
Kali Puppolo pitched seven innings, giving up nine hits and six runs, striking out three in the win.
"We're just excited, the girls bought in and executed today and they just kept in simple and kept it loose," head coach P.J. Anadio told NEWSChannel 2. "[The girls] just kept their composure and were able to execute and get the job done."
Herkimer faces the winner of the loser's bracket semifinals game between Rock Valley and Brookedale, Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
If the Generals were to lose that game, they would play a winner-take-all game for the national championship at 5 p.m. ET.
