SHARON SPRING, N.Y. – The state is opening a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination site at Beekman 1802 Mercantile in Sharon Springs on Saturday – and anyone who gets a shot will get a free bar of soap from the shop.
Several pop-up sites have been established around the state to target areas with low vaccination rates.
According to state data, the Mohawk Valley has the lowest percentage of adults vaccinated in the state. In Schoharie County, nearly 55% of those 18 and older have received at least one dose, compared to 70% statewide.
Oneida County is at 61%, Otsego County is at nearly 61% and Herkimer County is at 55%.
Beekman is located at 187 Main St., and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
