NEWPORT, N.Y --- Newport Girl Scout Troop 61127 held a chicken barbeque to benefit the West Canada School's Elves Express.

Elves Express was formed to make sure that children whose family's lost everything during the Halloween flooding have a good Christmas.

The elves raise money to buy toys for those kids and then deliver them near the holidays.

Friday's barbeque had dozens of Girl Scouts and volunteers cooking and delivering meals to those throughout the community.

The menu included barbeque chicken, potatoes, coleslaw, and baked beans.

"These girls are awesome, they are waiting tables, they are pouring drinks for people that come into buy their dinner. Our Daisys are working customer service, our Ponies are starting to learn to manage money. There's a lot of life skills that go into managing an event like this in addition to being able to benefit the flood victims," said Amanda Reinhardt, Co-Leader of Troop 61127.

Part of the money also goes towards helping individuals in Newport that were affected by the flooding.
