Frankfort, NY - Gianna Henrickson is a dreamer and on Monday night one of her biggest dreams came true.
All thanks to the Central new York Make a Wish Foundation Gianna, her mother, grandmother and three brothers were given the opportunity to attend the New York Rangers game, meet players and Gianna was able to drop the ceremonial puck. Make a Wish is a program that grants wishes to children with varying medical conditions and for a girl like Gianna who's had 25 surgeries, her mother said that it was amazing to see her wish come true.
"As a parent watching your child go through surgeries, so many mediacl appointments, so many diagnoses one upon the next, upon the next, to see her experiece something we could never in our lives dream of, to see that wish that hopse she had to do this its amazing, we're so grateful,, its so incredible to have something exciting instead of something that always involves doctors or medical or supplies. Its an amazing experience." says Erica Henrickson.
The moment has since then gone viral on social media and Erica, Gianna's mother says the family has been receiving an outpouring of love from fans around the world. Where'd she find her love for hockey? Her brothers!
"Everyone plays hockey, and Gianna is also an honorary member of their hockey club - the Mohawk valley Hockey Club. They've made her an honorary member and she plays with them." added Erica.
Her favorite player on the Rangers is Henrik Lundqvist. He gave her a signed jersey, hockey stick and bow and Gianna had high praise calling him "the best goalie in the universe" and says that this is something that she'll never forget.
Make a Wish Central New York is dedicated to creating life changing wishes for local children.
