ROME, N.Y.--- The American Heart Association held its annual Go Red For Women luncheon at Tuegega Country Club in Rome.
The luncheon raised awareness for cardiovascular disease as well as collecting donations for the American Heart Association.
Organizers of the luncheon stressed the importance of having the event because cardiovascular disease continues to be the number one killer of women throughout the country.
"So one in three women will pass away from heart disease. So it's very important to spread the message. It's just a wonderful event everyone is so nice and welcoming and we all get together and just rally for this event," said Kelley Uvanni.
According to the American Heart Association, the average age for a heart attack in a man is 65 the average age is 72.
