This year’s Go Red for Women event will be held online Wednesday, in lieu of the typical annual luncheon, to spread awareness about cardiovascular disease in women.
The keynote speaker, Kristy Mandour, will discuss the connection between mental health and heart health, and how women can support both.
"It's a day that we’re going to be talking about how women can take back their power in regards to how they view their mindset and their mental health; because it’s intricately connected to cardiovascular health, their heart health and their physical health,” she said.
Mandour is the owner of Sow to Speak, which aims to help people communicate better through coaching, training and workshops.
Stroke survivor, Rosalind Passley, will also speak at the event.
Three local teens will also be presented with $1,000 scholarships for their work supporting the American Heart Association.
The Zoom event will be held from noon to 1 p.m.
