UTICA, N.Y. -- As NewsChannel 2 gets ready for its Go The Distance program, Boilermaker officials are getting ready to close registration.
WKTV's Kristen Copeland was live from race headquarters in West Utica Tuesday night.
In less than a week, registration for the best 15k in the country will close, which is slated for Monday at noon – unless the Boilermaker reaches its cap before that.
The cap on the 15k is 14,500. And of that field of thousands there will be at least 10 first-time runners.
The Go The Distance team got together to learn about the training program and sign their commitment letter.
This year’s GTD runners come from all walks of life. And over the next 12 weeks, we are going to meet them, one-by-one, and learn why 2019 is their year to get to the Boilermaker finish line.
Training starts April 22, and mile-by-mile, hill-by-hill the runners will take on the road race on July 14.
