WHITESBORO, NY – Gold Star Mothers’ Day was celebrated by local Gold Star families Sunday.
The Vietnam Veterans of America Utica Chapter 944 hosted a wreath-laying ceremony at the Gold Star Mothers’ monument at the Captain George A. Wood Postal Facility in Utica.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony there was a dinner at Harts Hill Inn in Whitesboro.
Thomas Buono, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 944 president, says Gold Star families should always be remembered.
“They sacrificed so much. When a soldier dies it breaks a family. We just want to make sure they’re honored for the sacrifice that they did give.”
Gold Star Mothers’ Day takes place on the last Sunday in September.
