NEW YORK STATE -- Governor Cuomo has signed a signed a new law that's meant to help reduce carbon emissions over the next 30 years.
It's called the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.
The Governor was joined by climate advocate and former Vice President Al Gore.
Cuomo says this is the largest offshore wind agreement by a state in U.S. History. He says that offshore wind is critIcal to turn to clean energy. New York selected two offshore projects that are set to power over one million homes.
He says this act will support more than 1,600 and will create $3.2 billion in economic activity.
This act now requires an 85% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
