Local car theft ends in car crash

Police are investigating a car theft in New Hartford that ended with a crash in Utica's Cornhill section.

UTICA -- Police are investigating a car theft in New Hartford that ended with a crash in Utica's Cornhill section.

The suspect crashed a stolen vehicle into a van, along 3rd Ave., near Blandina St.

That stolen car ended up on the front lawn of a home on 3rd Ave.

A name has not been released, but police say the suspect is in custody.

Police say it all started when the suspect stole a car from the Rite Aid on Commercial drive in New Hartford around 8:30 pm.

After the suspect crashed the car, police say he took off running before they managed to take him into custody.

There are no reports of any injuries.

We're still waiting on his identity and a list of charges.
