UTICA, NY-- One of the witnesses to testify in the Tasheonia Hills murder trial included her own grandmother.

Hills is the 26-year-old Utica woman accused of stabbing her mother, 44-year-old Irene Williams, to death at the Humphrey Gardens apartment complex on Feb. 6, 2017. Jean Williams, the mother of the victim and grandmother of the defendant testified in court on Thursday.

Jean Williams spoke about a strained relationship between Hills and Hills' mother. She said Hills was upset that her mother had taken most of the insurance money from a car accident, from a car that belonged to Hills.

When Jean Williams found out that her daughter had died she called her other daughter Jane. The two had a three way phone call with Hills and recorded the conversation. During the conversation Hills' used her mother's phone and can be heard crying. Hill's aunt asked her if she's seen her mother. Some of the questions they asked Hills she didn't answer. They ask her "Why didn't you call 911," Hills said "I should have called 911, 100 percent." They ask her "Where are you at?" Hills responds saying, "I'm going back to face what I did."
