UTICA, N.Y. -- 21-year-old Brandon Clark has officially been charged with second-degree homicide in the murder of 17-year-old Bianca Devins.

He was arraigned Monday and is currently in the Oneida County Jail.

On Sunday, around 7:00 a.m., the Utica Police Department was alerted to several 911 calls saying 21-year-old Brandon Clark killed his girlfriend. Clark was one of the many people who called 911, reportedly making claims incriminating himself in the murder of Bianca Devins. Police say he also told dispatchers he planned on ending his life.

Police tracked Clark's location to Poe Street in Utica, where officers found Clark lying upon the tarped-over body of Devins.

Police say when officers approached, Clark began to slit his own throat with the knife he allegedly used to kill Devins. Police took him into custody and he was rushed to a local hospital.

Bianca Devins (pictured right), of Utica, graduated just last month from Proctor High School.

Bianca and Clark were in a romantic relationship for the past month. They both recently traveled to New York City for a concert. While at the concert, they reportedly got into an argument that ultimately led Clark to allegedly kill Devins.

The incident, which caused the 20 minute delay to Sunday's Boilermaker wheelchair race and 15K run, is still under investigation.

Police obtained a search warrant for Clark's home in Cicero, but they are not saying what they found as a result of that search.

There are also very graphic pictures of Devins circulating social media, and police are asking that if you see those pictures to report them to the website host.

Utica Police Sgt. Bryan Coromato says several calls came into 911 Sunday, one of them being from the male individual (Clark) involved in the homicide.

"We received a few calls to dispatch that turned into an attempt to locate and that led us to Poe, where we ultimately located the two individuals. Poe Street is a dead end street in the city, and it dead ends into a wooded area. They were both located in that area. The male and female were located outside of the vehicle,” he said.

Clark had to undergo surgery as a result of Sunday’s incident.

Friends of Devins used social media to organize a candlelight vigil Monday night to honor her, at the corner of the Parkway and Oneida Street in Utica. They asked people to bring candles to light up the night, like she brought light to so many lives.

Utica City School District Superintendent Bruce Karam released a statement on the death of the recent graduate saying:

"The Utica City School District community is saddened to learn about the tragic and untimely passing of one of our 2019 graduates, Bianca Devins. We share our deepest heartfelt condolences with her family and loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this very difficult time. Counseling services will be available at Proctor High School each day this week from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m."

Devins' family also released a statement saying:

"We are very grateful for the outpouring of love and sympathy we have received from our Friends, Family, Bianca’s Friends and the whole community. Your prayers help to strengthen us through this difficult time.

Bianca, age 17, was a talented artist, a loving sister, daughter, and cousin, and a wonderful young girl, taken from us all too soon. She is now looking down on us, as she joins her cat, Belle, in heaven. Bianca’s smile brightened our lives. She will always be remembered as our Princess.

Bianca graduated from T. R. Proctor High School this past June and was looking forward to attending MVCC in the fall.”
