UTICA, N.Y. – Local residents rallied Friday to protest state coronavirus restrictions, including the mandates to wear face masks in public places.
About a dozen protesters congregated at the corner of Genesee Street and Memorial Parkway around noon to push for an end to the widespread lockdown of New York.
People were holding signs, one reading ‘Open New York’ and another, ‘Mask on, Brain off.’
"We're here to say that the lockdown has gone on too long, it's too excessive, and it's time to end the lockdown," said Donald Thomas, a protester at the event.
The group that organized the protest is called Central New York Voices for Faith, Liberty and Freedom.
