Gunfire exchange in New York Mills leads to arrest

The incident happened just after midnight on Sauquoit Street.

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. -- An arrest has been made after a house and garage were hit by bullets in an alleged gunfire exchange in New York Mills overnight. 

The New York Mills Police Department says they're investigating an incident that happened just after midnight on Sauquoit Street.

Officers say they found spent shell casings and discovered the bullets hit the house and a nearby detached garage.

Police were trying to secure evidence and in the process the residents of 25 Sauquoit Street interfered with their work.

Darren Garcia, 33, was taken into custody and charged with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
