UTICA, N.Y. -- The Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency is holding clinics for HEAP.
HEAP stands for the Home Energy Assistance Program – a government program designed to help low-income people with heating costs.
The agency is trying to reach people who are eligible for the assistance, and help them sign up.
"It is for lower income families that don't have enough money to provide fuel oil or wood or pellets or electric for the winter months. It helps assist them get through those tough times with the tough weather,” said Holly Shanley, with the MVCAA.
The four remaining HEAP clinics are:
- December 17 at the Vienna Town Hall
- December 18 at the Oriskany Falls Village Hall
- December 19 at the Oriskany Municipal Building
- December 20, at the Boonville Town Hall
