ROME, N.Y. -- Walmart in Rome is back open after being forced to close and evacuate Monday morning.
Fire officials tell the Rome Sentinel that contractors were using a propane-powered machine to strip floor tiles. The fumes from the machine set off the carbon monoxide detectors.
Corporate officials say there was an HVAC issue and it's now resolved.
The alarms went off before 7:30 a.m.
The store, on Rome-Taberg Road, reopened by noon.
