Haier America is recalling about 137,000 refrigerators due to a fire hazard, according to a recall notice on the company’s website.
The recall involves Haier top mount refrigerators with 10.1 cubic foot capacity, and the model numbers HA10TG31SB, HA10TG31SS, and HA10TG31SW.
The affected refrigerators were manufactured between Sept. 2014 and Oct. 2016, and they were sold in black, stainless steel and white, with the Haier logo on the door.
The company says an electrical component in the refrigerator can short circuit and pose a fire hazard. The company has received three reports of smoke, fire and property damage, but no injuries have been reported.
Those who have a refrigerator affected by the recall should immediately unplug and stop using the refrigerator. Haier will provide a free repair for consumers with affected refrigerators, or they will provide a rebate of up to $150 for people who want to purchase a new Haier refrigerator.
