UTICA, NY - A local Ukrainian Catholic Church held a special ceremony Sunday to celebrate a very special anniversary.
The ordination of its pastor.
Father Michael Bundz, the pastor of St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Church of Utica was ordained 40 years ago back in 1981.
Bishop Paul Chomnycky officiated at a special church service. That was followed by a dinner and reception.
Family, friends, parishioners, along with numerous clergy from the Upstate area attended the event to let Father Mike know just what he's meant to the Ukrainian Catholic Church community in Utica.
“A lot of people who are experiencing difficulties turn to him,” said Zyn Jackiw a church trustee. “We've opened up the church hall to some people who are having some issues. We're helping them out in any way we can, and this is all spearheaded by Father Michael who's been really important in getting these things done for us."
Happy 40th anniversary Father Mike.
