HERKIMER, N.Y.— Three staff members at Herkimer College have received SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in teaching, librarianship and professional services.
“It is a privilege to be able to honor our faculty and staff who go above and beyond to ensure our students are supported and successful in the pursuit of their academic goals. My heartfelt thanks and congratulations are extended to each of the 2020 SUNY Chancellor’s Award recipients,” said Herkimer College President Cathleen McColgin.
Jason Brown, an assistant professor of English, received the honor for teaching. He has worked at Herkimer College for more than 15 years, and developed the online template for the Accelerated Learning Program, which helps students develop writing skills. He is also the adviser of the Social Issues Club, a member of the Fall Fest and Alumni Weekend working group, and sits on the Student Judicial Review Board.
Librarian Stephanie Conley was also honored for her service students. Conley has been at the college since 2010, and is the certified administrator for the Alma and Primo library systems, as well as the supervisor of the LibGuides and LibAnswers services. She also makes a concerted effort to give presentations and hold special events to encourage students to use the library.
Pat Miller is a senior financial aid assistant at Herkimer College, and graduated from the college herself in 1979. She has been working at the college for more than 20 years, and has been named a ‘campus angel’ twice by On Point for College for her leadership. She is also an active member of Habitat for Humanity.
