Herkimer County Board of Elections extending hours for several days

The Herkimer County Board of Elections is extending its hours for several days for those who need to get an absentee ballot to vote in the Nov. 6 general election.

HERKIMER – The Herkimer County Board of Elections is extending its hours for several days for those who need to get an absentee ballot to vote in the Nov. 6 general election.

The Board of Elections will have extended hours on the following days:

- Thursday, Oct. 25: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 27: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Thursday, Nov. 1: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 3: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

On Election Day on Nov. 6, the Herkimer County Board of Elections will be open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Board of Elections is typically open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Those who will be voting with an absentee ballot for the general election must apply in person by Nov. 5, or they must postmark their application for an absentee ballot by Oct. 30 if they’re applying by mail.

Absentee ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 5 in order for the vote to be eligible, and it must be received by the local Board of Elections by Nov. 13. If you plan to deliver your absentee ballot in person, you must do so by Nov. 6.

If you’re not registered to vote, it’s too late to register and be eligible to vote in the general election.
