HERKIMER, N.Y. -- Herkimer County HealthNet has a new executive director. The board of directors president introduced Elyse Enea at a meeting last week.
Enea succeeds Thomas Curnow, who retired from HealthNet at the end of 2018.
She has been with the organization since February 2013. In that time, she implemented each of the Mohawk Valley Mile programs in Frankfort, Ilion, Mohawk and two in Herkimer. She was certified as a master trainer in the Chronic Disease Self-Management program. She is a diabetes self-management peer leader and teaches the management program, as well as Living Healthy with High Blood Pressure.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Herkimer County HealthNet. I look forward to being a part of the effort to bring this non-profit organization to the next level, making a positive difference for even more individuals who live, work, play, and learn in Herkimer County,” Enea said in a statement.
Before to returning to Herkimer County to help her father at the Vincent Enea Funeral Serivce in 2011, Enea worked for a private equity investment firm, as well as contributing to the Gaston Alive! Magazine in Charlotte, North Carolina.
