NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. – The Herkimer County Hunger Coalition donated $1,000 on Wednesday to another organization that also helps people with food assistance.
The donation was made to Feed Our Vets, an organization in New York Mills that helps provide food for local veterans in need.
“We had very generous donations this year from our sponsors and when we can pay it forward to an organization like these guys - we are just happy as could be to do something like that,” said Ron Schoonmaker, board member at the Herkimer County Hunger Coalition. “It's a double plus for me -- I’m a veteran, too.”
Schoonmaker says he hopes the charity can continue to make more donations.
