HERKIMER, NY - Herkimer County elected leaders and the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties are launching a county-wide community development plan.
The Community Foundation is working with the county and several municipalities to create a plan will that will focus on collaboration, connectivity, tourism, economic growth and community prosperity throughout the county. They held a news conference Wednesday afternoon to announce the details of that initiative.
“This is a community engagement plan. This is all about listening to every corner of this community, finding out what are those needs, opportunities, where are we overlapping, where can we support each other better and where can be grow? …Everyone has their own ideas, but collectively the county can do so much better,” says Alicia Dicks, Community Foundation President and CEO.
The Community Foundation received an Empire State Development grant to cover some of the costs, and found the right consultant to help put together this development plan.
