HERKIMER, NY - The former Duofold site located on Spruce Street in Ilion is ready for development.
That word coming from the executive director of the Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency Thursday at a public outreach meeting.
The meeting was held at Herkimer College to discuss their process of assessing brownfield sites in Herkimer County.
The agency was awarded a $200,000 EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant back in 2019 and used that money to fund the project. The Duofold property is one of the brownfield sites they assessed.
Officials believe the site is perfect for outdoor-oriented retail, mixed commercial, or light industrial use.
"We've had developers in from pretty much half the country looking at that site,” says Herkimer IDA executive director John Piseck.
“As covid opens up we're able to do more and show it more regularly now. It's really ready to go after phase two has been complete. We have a program in place, and we're ready to do more to actively market that site”.
The Herkimer IDA recently produced a minute-long video to entice potential developers to the site.
