HOLLAND PATENT, N.Y. - Golden Knights junior goalkeeper Jonathan Tolpa spent an entire season in the record books and didn't even know it.
On August 28 against Proctor, the Holland Patent keeper made 31 saves. After the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) updated its record book following the fall 2019 season, Tolpa found out that was a new single-game record for boys soccer in the state.
It was the opening game of the season, and the Golden Knights lost 9-0.
Holland Patent finished the year at 5-11 in the regular season, but upset top-seed General Brown in the first round of the Section III Class B tournament the 16-seed.
Tolpa made 216 saves and put up an 80.3 save percentage with five clean sheets in the season.
