UTICA, N.Y. – Utica’s newest hotel has opened on North Genesee Street.

Home 2 Suites by Hilton is 14,000 square-feet, with 89 rooms throughout its four floors.

Each room is a suite with a kitchen, equipped with a microwave and refrigerator.

General Manager Jerry Synrod says having extended stay options makes this hotel different from others nearby.

“The extended stay is something that the guests who are traveling is looking for more than anything else. With the extended stay the extra amenities so they can cook in their rooms. With all the limitations with restaurants and things like that,” he said.

There are also pull-out couches in every room at Home 2 Suites.

“The ability to have a couch to sit in besides just having a bed in a room, and all those things that you would find at home, dishes and stuff like that, just makes it so much easier,” said Synrod.

Home 2 Suites also uses sustainable resources like LED lights, recycled materials and energy-saving products.

Construction on the hotel started last year.
