UTICA – The HomeOwnership Center apparently does more than just help put people in homes. On Thursday, the center helped put them in Halloween costumes as well.
The HomeOwnership Center hosted a Halloween party and costume giveaway for local kids at the Empowerment Center on James Street in Utica.
Employees with the center say they do it because they never forgot where they came from.
“The HomeOwnership Center, we started originally in the Cornhill neighborhood over 30 years ago. So community engagement and community building is really important to us,” said Danielle Smith, CEO of the Home Ownership Center. “So that's basically why we do it, is just to help out the community.”
Smith’s goal was to provide costumes to up to 100 kids on Thursday.
