UTICA, N.Y.-If you are looking to help your child when you are going through a grief yourself, the Utica Zoo was the place to be Friday.
Hospice Bereavement Services says that children go through the grief process in a unique way, as do adults. As children grow up, they see their grief at each developmental milestone.
When parents are grieving, children could feel left out and may not have any peers who have been through a major loss, and feeling different can be an uncomfortable experience for them.
Brace Hearts, day long program was held at the Zoo Friday and children were offered fun activities to allow them to express, understand, and cope effectively with their grief.
The children were offered a chance to tour the Zoo, and even feed some of the animals.
