How to register on National Voter Registration Day

National Voter Registration Day, which is celebrated on the second Tuesday of September, is meant to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to vote and they don’t miss registration deadlines.

Today is National Voter Registration Day!

National Voter Registration Day, which is celebrated on the second Tuesday of September, is meant to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to vote and that they don’t miss registration deadlines.

If you need to register to vote, you can stop by the following libraries in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties today and get registered: Barneveld, Bridgeport, Canastota, Cazenovia, Chittenango, Clayville, Clinton, DeRuyter, Dolgeville, Hamilton, Herkimer, Illion, Middleville, New Hartford, New Woodstock, New York Mills, Old Forge, Oneida, Prospect, Rome, Sherrill, Utica and Whitesboro.

HamVotes at Hamilton College is also celebrating National Voter Registration Day. They will be holding a traveling registration drive today, which means you can find them in various spots around the campus and they’ll help you register to vote. They can also help you get an absentee ballot or find your polling location.

They will be in the following locations throughout the day:

- 12-1 p.m.: Commons (near the ice cream)
- 1-2 p.m.: Science Center Atrium
- 2-3 p.m.: CJ Lobby
- 3-4 p.m.: Sadove (near Euphoria)
- 6-7 p.m.: KJ Atrium (near front entrance)
- 7-8 p.m.: Library (first floor)

In order to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 6 general election, you must register to vote in person by Oct. 12. If you’re registering by mail, your application must be postmarked by Oct. 12 and received by your local Board of Elections by Oct. 17.

If you need to change your political party enrollment, you must do so by Oct. 12.

If you have to change your address on your voter registration, you must do so by Oct. 17.
