UPDATE: One lane has reopened on I-88 between exits 17 and 18 following a crash involving two tractor trailers and a pickup truck this morning.
Police say they expect the passing lane to remain closed until the end of the day.
The eastbound lanes of I-88 are closed between exits 17 and 18 due to a multiple tractor trailer accident just northeast of Oneonta.
New York State Police say two tractor trailers and a pickup truck pulling a livestock trailer without any livestock were involved in the crash.
Police say a tractor trailer was traveling eastbound in the left lane of I-88 when it hit the guide wires, got caught up and then ended up in the right lane. A second tractor trailer then got caught up in the guide wires that had become stretched across the road, and police say the driver possibly tried to back up when the pickup truck hauling the trailer rear-ended that second tractor trailer.
The pickup truck then got stuck under the back of the tractor trailer, and the driver had to be extricated from the truck. Police say the driver is lucky to be alive with only minor injuries. Police say the driver was up and walking around, and they were then rushed to the hospital.
No other injuries were reported in the crash.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
