ILION, NY - Many community events missing from our daily lives this past year are slowly finding their way back.
In Ilion, the Ilion Days have returned in abbreviated form with the theme “Ilion Strong”.
The community-wide event kicked off Saturday with a village-wide garage sale and a prince and princess pageant. Silas Gay took home the Little Mister crown, while Mazy Tubia the Little Miss. Ivy Arsenault Rivenburg was crowned princess, while Kiley Beam was 1st runner-up.
Missing from this year’s Ilion days is the ever-popular Doo Dah parade. Organizers say there wasn’t enough time to put it together due to all the covid 19 restrictions.
Despite that, Ilion Days committee member Tanya Dowd says it’s good to be back.
“It's a great feeling. We're actually back as a committee and a community. We're trying to get everybody out to get some morale back up, and enjoy the weather to get some normalcy back"
