Ilion police say man found Sunday morning jumped from a vehicle

Ilion Police released a press release Sunday afternoon regarding an injured male found lying on Central Avenue.

Ilion, N.Y. - Ilion Police have released new information regarding the situation on Central Avenue Sunday morning.

In a press release released Sunday afternoon, Ilion Police say they were called for the report of a person laying in the middle of the roadway in front of the Aldi's store at the intersection of Central Avenue/State Route 51 and Spruce Street at 5:56 AM Sunday.

Police say upon their arrival they found an unconscious male pedestrian who appeared to have possibly been struck by an unknown motor vehicle. Police say the motor vehicle involved was not present at the scene.

Police say the injured male pedestrian was taken by Ilion Ambulance to Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, where he is presently listed in critical condition.

Police say during the course of the ongoing investigation, investigators learned that the male may have jumped, or fallen from a motor vehicle, which had been traveling southbound on Central Avenue/State Route 51.

Police say the driver and vehicle involved have since been located.

The name of the injured male is being withheld at this time.

No word on whether the driver will face charges.

Police say additional information will be released when available.

Ilion, N.Y. - There is crime scene tape up along Central Avenue in Ilion this morning and we are still waiting for information to be released by the Ilion Police Department.

We have had a number of calls into the newsroom from viewers, all stating that a woman's body was found there this morning.

The crime scene tape is up in the area of Central Avenue near the new Aldi's.

We do have our own Brent Kearney on scene and he is waiting to get information from police. So far no police officials are providing him with any information on what was found.

Brent does say people who live in that area also told him they saw a woman's body on the street.

As soon as we do have more inforamtion, we will pass it along.
