ILION- According to Mayor Brian Lamica, Ilion experienced a third water main break at the intersection of West Main Street and Weisbecker Hill on Saturday afternoon.
The first break occurred just after 1:30 PM. First responders arrived on scene, shutting down the intersection to repair the damage.
Just after 4:30 pm, the same water main ruptured again.
The mayor voicing his frustration with the entire situation. He commends the repair crews that worked for days trying to fix the water mains.
Residents were advised to continue to boil their water until further notice.
"I had to run my water just to get the amber sludge to stop from coming out. And boil it before you drink it...no. I think the point is that we have to find a way to fix this village. We either have to fix this village, or we have to let someone else do it," said Ilion resident Robert Weston.
The time table for lifting the boil water advisory was next week. No word yet on if this latest water main break changes that date.
Ilion police has issued a no unnecessary travel advisory for the damaged areas.
