ILION - Putting food on the table isn't always easy, especially during the summer when school lunch programs aren't offered.

Franco's Pizzeria in Ilion wants to help by giving out free lunch to children.

Throughout the entire summer school break kids can get a slice of pizza, a bag of chips and a soda or juice box for free. This is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. weekdays.

The age cut-off is 18, but Franco’s says they won't turn away anyone who is in need.

"I was one of those kids. I didn't come from a lot, you know, I just worked really hard to get where I am, and there's been people who helped me along the way. So wherever I can, I just try to do the same," said owner Daniel Mendez.

In the past, Franco's has been known to step up when people need it most. 600 people were helped out with a free meal last Christmas.
