An Ilion woman is facing felony charges for alleged welfare fraud, according to the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say 24-year-old Mariah Jackson allegedly received more than $4,000 in benefits that she wasn’t eligible for over a period of time.

Jackson was arrested Tuesday by the Sheriff’s Office’s Welfare Fraud Unit, with the help of the county Department of Social Services. She’s charged with third-degree welfare fraud and felony third-degree grand larceny.

Jackson was processed and arraigned in the Village of Herkimer Court. She’s scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
